hi, im in the process of rebuilding my mates mini and we've taken his gearbox off and i decided to have a little look at his cam, and upon first inspection got quite excited, but later found out it was the OE 1275 A+ sprite/injection(50hp) cam...with the 2 raised rings between lobes 7 and 8. i've found all the details for this cam, and for a standard A+ cam and i was wondering if i could get him a standard 1275 A+ cam, would he notice the difference? (from looking at the figures myself, i;d say there would be a big difference?) ........anyways, here are the figures

OE 1275 A+ sprite/injection(50hp) cam------

Checking height: 0.017" @ lobe

Timing: (Intake): 9/41 (Exhaust): 44/6

Nominal lobe lift: (Intake): 0.235" (Exhaust): 0.235"

Duration (Intake): 230 (Exhaust): 230

Lobe centre angle (Intake): 106 (Exhaust): 109

Lobe separation angle: 107.5

Lift on overlap: 0.025"

Accuracy: Very Good

and the standard A+ 1275 cam------

hecking height: 0.017" @ lobe

Timing: (Intake): 9/41 (Exhaust): 55/17

Nominal lobe lift: (Intake): 0.263" (Exhaust): 0.263"

Duration (Intake): 230 (Exhaust): 252

Lobe centre angle (Intake): 106 (Exhaust): 109

Lobe separation angle: 107.5

Lift on overlap: 0.040"

Accuracy: Very Good

if anyone could help asap it would be greatly appreciated:)

thanks

nick

The standard sprite cam is no different to that of the cam used in the 998’s

I've got a standard A+ cam for £10 if you want but personally if it was I me I probably wouldn't want to do it for the small gain, better of getting a SW5, kent 266 or a MG metro cam

It shouldn't make much difference - if it was worth the swap and it's filling the cylinders a bit better you may find a little less advance works.

Apologies if it's stating the obvious: you did use new cam followers didn't you, otherwise there's a good chance any benefits will be short lived.
