Hello TMF,

Just did a quick edit on a photo to see what side stripes would look like on the car.

2nd picture is of what the car looks like now, and 1st picture is the edited one :)

And yes that's me looking at the missing spotlight on the BINI :(

What do you think??

Abe

Oh right cool, I was just wondering about the insurance as I added bonnet stripes to mine the same time I put my alloys on and forgot to inform the insurance when I told them about the alloys, so if it was important I would just have to ring them and pay the admin fee ;) I wouldn't think they would be bothered about it as it's not like it's not like they gonna affect the speed of the car lol

i was thinking about that! But im looking at a "two birds one stone" thing here.

A bit of rust is starting to come through on the bottom, where the side stripes would be placed. So i was thinking about sanding down the rust, priming and re-painting it then covering the bottom with black decal such as my edited picture.

This would hopefully stop any more rust coming through aswell D:

It actually didn't affect it at all, I only had to pay the £25 admin fee :(

Yeah, I was thinking the same! but knew it had to be done, then was so happy when they told me I only had to pay the admin fee :( when you ring just say you got a set of alloys and you want to get a quote to see how much extra your insurance will be, that way if the price is affected loads you don't have to go along with it, you can just make an excuse so they don't make you pay anything.

I declared more than 5 mods to my car the other day, including alloys and cobra classic seats, didn't even have to pay an admin fee! They did say when I first took out the policy that if I put alloy wheels on the excess would increase by about £100, which I thought was fair and I was expecting them to say that when I gave them a call. Couldn't believe it when she said that's all fine :gimme:

As for the stripes - I'd tell them about it although if you're worried about an admin fee again, wait until you have something bigger to declare. It's hardly a modification, but I suppose it could make it more of a target because they make the car look that little bit better. Plus we all know stripes make you go faster :)

"when you ring just say you got a set of alloys and you want to get a quote to see how much extra your insurance will be, that way if the price is affected loads you don't have to go along with it, you can just make an excuse so they don't make you pay anything." ----- Is that really a good idea? I'd rather pay the extra because you can guarantee if you have an accident, the insurance will say you're not covered because of the wheels.
