right chaps.

im at the stage of sorting the brakes on my K series Mini. servos been ditched for obvious reasons. i have 2 black tag master cylinders, but i could do with something a little more compact, and am i right in thinking the yellow tag is alot slimmer?

is there any difference in bore sizes / performance between the two masters?

also do i ditch the standard bias valve on the bulk head and run an adjustable one, or is the standard item upto the job?

The FAM7821 will do the job, but you can swap it if needs be.

The yellow tag GMC227 is a bit slimmer, but I can't see it making any difference. The horizontal master has the biggest bore. GMC227 is the same bore as GMC167 on top but bigger in the bottom. It has a M12x1 thread to stop it being connected wrongly - the bottom outlet must go to the rear brakes.

Plus repair kits are more readily available for the yellow band, so that would be my choice....

Ideal chaps. I'll use the black tag for the time being even though I need to tilt it backwards several degrees and remove some material from beside the union mounting hole to clear my inlet manifold.

And switch to a yellow tag at a later date.

So the regulator on a 1988 servod mini is ok to use also ?

It's the same regulator. I'd be wary if the clearances are that close - what happens when the engine is rocking against the stabilisers?

Post a piccy, maybe someone will see an alternative solution. Can you tilt the engine a bit, or spacer the pedal box back in to the car slightly? Have you seen Big Chief's Micra conversions, some good lateral thinking (literally) there.

You may struggle to get the black tag cylinder to bleed properly after it's been totally dry. It had a design fault which is why Lockheed replaced it with the yellow tag one.
