1.3 Spi now 1.4 Carbs
1995

Attached images are my Dizzy with the cap off and "The timing scale" .

I have a problem how do I reinstale the the Distributor on a new engine?
I have got rid off my ECU and replaced with a Relay to work my fuel pump. I bought and after market remote Amp Electronic Iginition that has: A new Coil: a new Dizzy with a connection to the Remote Amp box; a Amplafier box. All three of these are wired together. As u can see in the first picture off the "Timing scale" the timing is nearly 0 about 2 degrees, i know that if i take the fan belt off and take the spark plugs out the i can ratate the crank pully it 0. In the secound picture is my dizzy with the cap off. The third picture is from the Hanyes manual.

My Questions are these
1. How do get the the dizzy to the wright orientation before i tighten it in position with the plate that holds it to the engine block? In the third picture i dont know how to match thta to my dizzy( bolt pattern different)
2. Where should the rotor arm point when the timing scale is 0?

I need help please
Thanks
Rory

General rule of thumb is that the rotor arm should point towards no 1 spark plug with crank at TDC.
To move it, take the distributor out and note how far the distributor drive is down the hole.
Screw a long 5/16" bolt into the hole in the centre of the distributor drive.
Pull it out slowly, it will rotate as you pull it.
Just as it clears the camshaft (stops turning as you pull it), turn it one way or the other and re-insert it (in your case turn it clockwise one tooth).
The distributor drive has to be located in a hole inside the block in which it turns (wiggle it around a bit if it doesn't go in first time.
Once you are sure it is fully located home (and not before) unscrew the bolt and try the distributor again.
If it is still not right, repeat the procedure.

If you turn the engine to TDC (Top Dead Centre - cylinder 1 ) with both the inlet and exhaust valve rockers loose the rotor arm should then be at the 1 O'Clock position, currently it is at 12 O'Clock but it looks like the engine may not be at TDC any way.....

This will give you the foundation to get your timing correct.

Now fit your cap and lead 1, which is the lead that goes from cylinder 1 to the terminal on the distributor cap at about the 1 O'Clock position......

Now following your firing order fit the other 3 leads.
