1998 Rover Mini Cooper Sportspack - STANDARD

hi,

i had the tracking done when i got it and this helped but it has got worse and worse recently, on some roads it really really pulls! i think the suspension cones need changing as the car is a bit low at the front but surely this wont cause it to just pull to the left and only on some uneven roads.

i have checked the tie rods etc and everything seems secure.

the front left wheel does look like it towing out ever so slightly, any help much appriciated!

thanks in advance!

or if anyone is local i will pay petrol and beer money if your free to have a look/take it out and see for yourself!

The 13" wheels are prone to tramlining....it seemed worse on mine with anything other than Yoko A 539 tyres. Dunlop ones were the worst.

Agreed; the standard dunlop sport sp 2000 / 2500 tramline like a b....
A539 reduce the affect, and very good tyre. But suspension / tracking should be checked prior to spending out on 4 new tyres...

Are you driving the same roads / roads you know the car has never pulled on before? if so, something has changed in the setup then, suspect tracking. Hit any bumps / kerb etc?

Mine seems quite sensitive to tyre pressures too...bit obvious I know!

Could be lots of reasons to be honest

- the wide tyres

- excessive road wear.

- The weight of you as a driver stressing an already stressed and old rubber cone, on teh drivers side

- unequal tyre pressure

- Binding brakes

- wheels need rebalanced after dropping a weight

- May even be the rear wheels

have replaced the suspension cones now, (by the way how long does it take for them to settle as it is still sitting very high 3 days after?)

steering rack was slightly loose! so tightened that up too, drove car a still feels like its dragging/tramlining however the tracking obviously needs doing after the cone change and steering rack sorted, so basically am leaving it for a few more days for cones to settle then will get car tracked again, so hopefully will feel better after that (i hope!)

your looking at weeks and not days for the cones to settle fully.
