Hello, I own a 1989 Mini 30; but cant get it working properly. It starts fine with out any throttle, but when I apply the throttle it cuts out and i need to start it again. By very slowly increasing the revs i can get it running, but obviously something's wrong. All the parts are standard and the only parts which have been replaced are some engine mountings.
Any ideas what it could be?
Cheers

Hello,

What engine and fueling do they have, I would guess a 998 with HIF38 carburettor?

SOunds like a choke issue to me.

Definitely sounds like a carb/fueling issue.

Is it when the engine is cold or hot? If cold it could be an ineffective choke for some reason, if hot it could be the dashpot oil reservoir is empty, I would check this first, no oil in there causes all kind of problems - misture leans out as carb piston moves up too quickly = stall.

Already checked the dashpot and don't think its a lack of oil in there.
I know it happens when the engine's cold, but I'll test it now after letting it warm up.

When I first had these problems the dashpot was cleaned and reassembled but the same problems occur.

Cheers

May just be a worn carb then which needs refurbing and re-setting up.
