Normally I would use Autoglym but I was just curious as to whether people prefer different brands and their results that follow?

I still use SRP. Used with a sealant and a decent wax it gets plenty of shine!

I prefer the eastern polish, they work the hardest for the least money.

i find meguiers gives a better shine than auto glym, but is harder work, so for best of both worlds, good price, wide range of products, easy to use and good finished product.... i always use auto-glym!!

Estonians are good value too! But they can have violent reactions when mixed together

Are we talking cutting compounds/fine polish/or finishing wax(sometimes referd to as polish/protection polish)

Cutting compounds I use - farcella G3 cutting compound or 3M's equivalnt. This is for on the mop/wouldent even attempt using cutting compounds by hand I would have no arms left :P.

Fine polish I use - Now this is tricky as most polish you find now is a polish cross wax due to the fact that the companys would have many people complaing they have polished through to the base coat if they sold proper polish in shops. So I tend to use autoglem super resin polish or they deep gloss for darker colours. I also like mer for use on glass and mirrors and on other peoples cars as its slightly cheaper.

Finishing wax's - There are many types i have been trying out as I have not yet found one that out does the rest. But so far these few stand out
Smart wax carabuna the pink one (for my car only) theres also 3Ms liquid premium wax(i use on mine when it dosent need smart waxing and other peoples cars) and autoglem aqua wax(more of a quick wax detailer for when im in a rush or its just starting to rain).

I work in the motor-trade (repairing cars) & we have got some new stuff in. It's called 'Monkey Spunk', it's amazing stuff!!! You can get all sorts of wax/polish/glazes. Got mine done last week & could not staring/touching it.

Was washed, then re-wash with a conditioner, then a degreaser applied, soft wax after that & then the wax was sealed in with a barrier glaze. PM me your mobile number & I will ring you tomorrow, prices are not too bad but well worth it!

sorry to hi-jack this thread a bit but kinda on topic.
mine needs t-cutting which either i'll be doing or getting a poor sap to do it for me! :P , but wanted to know what the best average temperature/conditions to do it in, not undercover ok? as dont have space in the garage.
also had a quick look at waxes in halfords and saw the numerous ones out there, are they all pretty much the same thing with a few subtle differences?

thanks

Temperature is not really to important when your buffing a car with a machine polisher. To vet the compound/pound to work & do what's it's meant to, you need to get a little bit of heat in the polish - otherwise you just applying polish, spinning it & rather taking the scratches out it will make more. You need some heat to remove the scratches (cutting the lacquer back) or you are just putting polish on the lacquer

sound advice, thanks

i'll be doing it by hand which i know will be a bit of an arm killer but hey ho.
i guess i'll do it when the body feels like it has some heat bouncing off it in order to get the particles moving (never thought gsce science would come in handy) but elbow grease is very much needed.

thanks

Sam
