Best to get the right bit from Minispares (other Mini parts specialists are available )
Minis use unf (fine) & unc (coarse). If a UK hardwear store has any imperial fasteners at all they're likely to be Whitworth thread - not the same.

Well Sheffield probably isn't a bad place to find general engineering supplies, and maybe you have a Landrover specialists, or similar, that carries UNF stock? You could always ring Minispares with your credit/debit card, sure they could whack it in the post if they have stock.
Exactly which bolt, the bigger one in the engine changed to 3/8 unf.

Minispares next-day'd me something on Thursday and it arrived Friday morning. Failing that, you could go to a local fastner supplier. The one by me carries unf and unc in the grades required for cars

It's only 20min from Sheffield. They generally have everything on the shelf, but best to check before you set off. I use them all the time. Not being anything to do with cars you pay the real price for the nuts/bolts etc too not the "classic car supplier" price.

Why not give Huddesfield Mini Spares a call. They might have something
