I followed an 'old biddy' in a 1.3i K reg cooper, about a mile, to her home, in order to give her my number and tell her that if ever wanted to sell it I might be able to help her.

She'd had the 18,000 mile from new, bought it from the Rover Dealer that has long since gone. That's 20 miles a week.

This lovely lady was at least 80, if not 85 years of age, and asked how much I thought it was worth. I said that I thought it would be worth £2500 give or take abit, and she said that she would have replaced it but there isn't anything new that would be as good. I told her about TMF but she said she's not on the tint'rn't.

She said she'd put my number in her diary.

So any one here that's as old ?

A friend of a nieghbor of mine has a lovely late model mini seven in black with luuurvly red leather interior and she's gotta be pushing 65 - 70, she loves her car and loves the mini comunity, she like's the waves from other mini owners the most

i had a 85 year old guy come to my place to have some body work done and hes had it form new in 1992 and said he might give it me for 100 as he cant affford to do the paint scuffs on the car

Well I'm 70. Is that considered 'very, very old'? I still rally in my 1964 historic rally Cooper 'S' and train, teach and encourage younger Mini drivers to compete. My grandson's friends seem amazed when he says thing like 'my grandad took me on a skid pan in a Mini and taught me to drive on slippy surfaces' and 'my grandad has taught me how to handbrake-turn a Mini'.
I still restore Minis and love building powerful A-series engines for myself and my friends.
What I can't decide is what to do when I grow up!
Minis keep you young.

Another 'evergreen' Mini driver is my old friend Barrie 'Whizzo' Williams who still teaches racing, races, tests all sorts of cars and drives his famous 1963 Cooper 'S' reg. 120 MNP very quickly. In fact he was the first person to win an international rally in a Cooper 'S' and still has the car. He is also 70 years-young.

I wish my dad (69) could teach me how to build powerful A-series engines and take me to skid pans and how to handbrake turn. Im not a 'very very old person' by the way by quite some distance. Im 21 lol

I suggested him helping me built a turbo unit over the summer after i graduate as a gift to myself and a bonding exercise kind of thing. His response - No, i've never done it before. I wouldnt know where to start!

In other news, theres an old girl who pops along in a blue mini around Bromley I see when im back from uni. She's got to be at least 70.

Aren't there "anti stalking" laws to prevent that sort of thing!!

Apart from myself hem-hem Seaton has a high proportion of whispy folk and I've seen at least three quite old minis which appear to have been owned from new. One old guy who also has a GT6 in his garage tells me he used to strip all his cars down when he bought them and put them back together properly.
The other day I heard that an 85-year-old local woman had had her mini written off and she wanted another one since she didn't feel confident to drive any other kind of car. Should she stop altogether now? I have mixed feelings.

Here's a legend in his own lifetime but I've forgotten who he is! Sorry. Old age. Maybe Cooperman recognises him?
