Last MOT i got an advisory for the amber indicator lamps faded so they look lighter in coclour.

So i decided i would buy some LED ones, (as a bit of trial and error). Knowing that on autobulbs direct you can upgrade the car to LED i was wondering the following?

1) Is this totally road legal and pass the MOT ok? Im using clear lenses on the front indicators and side repeaters and using amber LED lamps.

2) I tried installing the rear tail/brake LED lamps tonight and they looked dim. I know my car battery isnt great so going to get that replaced, but upon having 1 LED brake light bulb on one side of the car, and the standard filament lamp on the other, the intensity diofference was quite substantial. The LED lamp was no where near as bright. Anyone tried this themselves?

So far the side repeaters are a massive improvement over the sloppy filament bulbs. Im now just awaiting for the remainders to be delivered.

Just so people know aswell, im using all the correct rated voltages and wattages.

No it's not legal. All the lamps on your car got their approval with filament bulbs fitted. These bulbs, their brightness and beam spread are part of the approval so the lamps are only legal if fitted with filament bulbs. The only way to do it legally is to replace the complete lamp units with units designed and approved to use LEDs, kit car suppliers offer many suitable lamps.
