Mine has a kent 286 its pretty nice but a 276 would be fine as well.

is a 1380 with a Stage 3 head built by minispeed. single hif 44 carb

Peak torgue is at 2600rpm, 70 lb'ft max power is a 5700 rmp at 76bhp at the wheels

its lumpy at idle but once you reach the power band its really nice - about 1.5k its fine - my carb does need tuning though as, at full throttle below 2k rpm it grumbles and splutters.

Ive got the Calver ST RE13 OT..in my 1380 and its great. Very good torque from low revs and as above....All hell breaks loose from 2500revs, keeps pulling all the way to 7000.

So its only me who thinks that even the 296sp is a kitten? I would hardly say all hell breaks loose. Even with over 100bhp at the wheels i would still consider this tame.

What are you actually going to be using the car for?

Wow!! 100bhp at the wheels is tame??? In a mini I would consider that kind of power as exceptional for a NA engine..But maybe im easily pleased.

What about the swift tune sw05? I thought that worked well in a 1380?

It all depends on what you want the car for.

The SW5 works well because of its high ramp angles and that it presents good valve curtain area sooner then similar duration cams.

However, i still feel the 266 is a better camshaft to use just due to its extra duration. Even upto 270 degree rotation a 1275cc + a-series is supprising tracable.
