Today I was trying to remove the battery from my L-Reg Mini Mayfair to charge it as it is completely flat.

However, I just could not remove the bolt on the negative side of the battery. It looks like something has discharged over the negative terminal (it was blue in colour), and maybe corroded the bolt, as one of it is thicker than the other. Regardless of what tool I was using and how much force I used, I just couldn't turn the bolt.

I'm wondering if anyone has ever experienced anything like this before, or any advice on how I can loosen the bolt to take out the battery?

Many thanks

On mine the earth strap just bolts to the boot floor, unbolt it from there to get the battery out and then you can have another go at it out of the car.

I was thinking of doing that, but on mine the earth strap has a clip on the top, which is used to tighten down the box that usually covers the battery. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to use a wrenth to remove it.

boil your kettle and pour it over
make sure it can drain out of the battery box though and you empty it and clean it well as well as your hands. Its highly corrosive and harmful sulphur
