Socket Size Swivel Hubs/ball Joint

hi all,i have tried to find the answer to this question by search but no success,what size is the socket for the ball joints on a 7.5 disc brake assembley,was told 1.5/16socket found one too small,have a 1.1/4 af ring spanner which seems to large,i have seen them advertised but at around £18/30 we have a good second hand auto trader local but need a size help anyone,regards john.

Which nut are you trying to remove? The nut on the pin or the large ball joint dome nut? 1 5/16" is the hub nut, the dome nut socket is a 1 1/2" extra deep ball joint type (it has notches inside to protect the pin thread). The swivel pin nut I seem to remember is 5/8".

if the 1 5/16" socket is to small and the swivel pin nut is 5/8" i think we can assume the nut he is talking about must be the large dome nut. :P

hi all,you hit it on the head there midridge thats the one i thought i was clear but when you are unsure on things you will have to make allowances i have just worked out ball/swivel joints are the same,regards john.

I was thinking that too but then you also said that 1 1/4 was too big!

hi all,i cant understand the ring spanner it is deffinitley stamped 1.1/4 af but when fitted over appears sloppy,regards john
