Hi, these will be my new door pockets made out of wood and fiberglass, they will hold 2 13" cones on each door, i have been trying to make things as light as possible for the hinges on the doors, hopefully they wont bee too heavy. The cones sound great I have used them before only prob is the 7 cm magnet that i have to work with, im trying to make the pokets so that i dont have to cut the door card, but im afraid that in the end i might have to...well see.....hey let me know what you all think!!!!!!!!!

HU-Alpine CDE9845RB
Amp- Rockford 500x
Passive 2 way crossovers
Tweetrs-Hertz HT 250 2.5cm
Woofers-Hertz HT 130 13cm (2 sets, not installed yet)
Woofers-Focal 6k1 in rear shelf (these are going as soon as im done with the doors)
Sub-MTX blu thunder in ported box 25cm (this will be changed soon with 4 20cm subs under the rear seats in ported box)

If ur going to the trouble of making entire doorpocket try and aim them mate will be a massive difference in SQ! Also what size wood is that baffle board? looks abit on the thin side in the pic.
Also mate you wont get 4 8" subs under the rear seat especially not ported u will be lucky to get 2 8" subs under there if ur putting them in a vented enclsosure. :cheese:

Hi, u cant really see from the pic but they will be slightly tilted, unfortunately not as much as i would also want them to be because of the magnets, the wood is 1cm very compressed at the top and a few mm thinner on the bottom part, keep in mind this will all be hardened up by the cloth and fiberglass so im hoping it will hold up the weight, the main prob with the rear subs so far is the clearance top to bottom (16cm fit perfect), the port will be rectangular on the side of the arches, but yes a regular round port will only fit in two separate boxes with one cone each. My installer suggested an Aliante, those subs, as u all know will work in the smallest sealed boxes but they are way too expensive......

I wouldn't bother fitting 4 8" subs either, even in a sealed box you are gonna struggle to get 2 in there and if you make the boxes too small it will sound C**p.

As for the fronts you really need to try and keep the enclosure sealed for best performance and if you have seperate tweeters try to mount them on the dash if you can.

it doesn't matter weather you go for a round port or not, physically u may be able to fit 4 drivers yes, but there just won't be the volume you need in that space for the drivers to work well in a sealed box and if you want to port them you have to increase the volume.

Also make sure as you seaid you get a good couple of mm of fiberglass on them baffle boards to stop them flexing.

Thanks guys!! will do, the tweeters will be mounted on top of the dash, even though i like the idea of mounting them in the air vents pointing at me face!!, by the way is it hard to get the top and bottom part of the dash out? where are the fixings? I was looking through my mini mags and i saw a mini with 4 8" subs under the rear bench but it looks as if they modified the bench itself.....i dunno its a very tight spot, but i want to get the cleanest istall as possible keeping the boot as empty as possble. Thanks again, today im off so ill be sound proofing the engine bay and installing the panels in the boot.

If its the one they did in the ice tech article i wouldn't even think about it, they were mounted free-air which is fine but there's still not enough volume and they didn't even mount the baffle board properly.

If you modified the rear bench it might be possible but it would be a squeeze. Better to spend a bit more wonga on two subs in proper sized enclosures and a better amp than on 4 subs that aren't going to be able to perform.

Just because its been done in miniworld doesn't mean it will sound any good, it may look good but thats all.

My intention is to fit a pair of 8's under the rear bench in sealed enclosures to provide the punchy bass (between 50 and 150Hz) and then the 12" sub mounted free-air to provide everything below 50Hz.
