As title really, has anyone got an Alcantara headlining...

Where did you get it and how was it to fit and hows it look... pics...?

Iv had a couple made, not naming who by, and we are having trouble fitting them, as the material doesn't stretch length ways at all.

Cheers

I did at one stage offer to make up alacantara headlining but i didn't do it in the end as there wasn't enough demand for it and i would make next to nothing (that and i didn't want to sign up as a trader on here). Where did you get the headlining from might i ask? and how much did it cost you? Regards Blue

Blue, Optimise Automotive do them, look under the bespoke headlining section on his website, I think they're pricey though, but that's to be expected. Unsure if that's where screech bought his from though.

Thanks for the replies.

As said, im not yet prepared to say where we got these made, not until things are resolved.

So no-one actually got one / fitted one then..?

Also.... how should the bars sit.... front one leaning slightly forwards, rear one slightly backwards and the others upright..?

cheers

Have you tried steaming it to stretch it like you would with a leather seat cover?

I doubt you'll get much advice on here about how to fit one as Alcantara a pretty exotic material when it comes to minis.

To be honest... iv not heard of this method, would it work on this material?

Obviously with vinyl, can be headted up, but wasn't so sure on this.

Steaming should not work as Alcantara is a man made micro fibered fabric! (well the real stuff is). It should have a certain amount of stretch in it anyway (enough to pull it to give it a nice taught look) but if it is backed onto a supporting fabric then it could be like trying to wrestle denim or hessian into a nice taught even beautifully finished headlining (which would be nigh impossible pretty much).
Hope this helps Regards Blue

Ordered my black Alcantara Headlining from Chris at Retro retrims and should have it soonish (mine "should" be easier to fit as its for a pick up, but its slightly custom so wont be AS simple as it could have been!)

Also, might not be a good idea to drive with gel in your hair?!

I made my own and it went well. We made it so the material had lots of overlap and then pulled it tight and pegged it. Hasn't moved since and we love it. If it's not fitting properly then maybe they didn't make it quite right. Have a good chat with them and see if they can offer any advise or another one that is right.

Here's mine:
