Just been to fetch my mini and the fella who has done some work on it said that the other day when he was moving it the CV popped off the shaft when he turned full lock. He thinks there is a clip missing. Never happened before. Any idease. It is a 1989 mini 30.

YES its happened to me. There is a c shaped clip which sits in a groove on the end of the drive shaft, the cv joint goes over this clip and it keeps everything together. My clip disintegrated and the shaft fell out of the joint!

Yes there should be a circlip on the end. It may be still be there but may have broken. Have a look at this diagram here number 35
