Hoping you guys can help, had a problem with the mini battery, so had to replace it, but when I bought my mini last year I only got the V5 and MOt nothing else, now the radio is asking for the code and I do not know it. Does anyone know where I can get the code from, failing that I will need a new unit.

You can't just get a new code. Sadly the dealer backup for listing these codes by registration doesn't really exist any more 10 years after the Mini ended production. You can get the unit cracked by an audio specialist who can interrogate the chip for its code. Don't punch random codes in, every time you enter the wrong code it doubles the time the unit will wait before letting you try again. It soon gets boring!

What age / make / model of radio do you have? There are certain programs available to "decode" the security code from the serial of the radio. Remove it from the dash and post the number. Also - check the rear for the code - mine had it handily written on the cage...

The tools can be bought at Halfords, or anywhere really. Most radios are fitted this way using one tool or another.

Thin electrical / precision screwdrivers. Only need 2. do one side, pull it out slightly, then release the other side.

Thanks to all that tried to help I now know my code, all down to internet searching, it was a good learning curve on all the scams out there for this code.
It ranged from £25 to £2.69 off Ebay and no guarantee that the code would work. In the end I found a webpage, sent the guy an email with the info I posted on here, within 10 mins he sent a code 9502 which worked and no money changed hands all he asked for was a donation on his site, which I happily gave a fiver as it worked and was no scam.

Thanks again to all that helped.
