Morning All,

Please can you give me some advice about buying a new mobile?

My old phone is a brick that just does SMS & makes calls. It is now dying after 5 years of good service & it's owner needs to be dragged into the 21st Century.

What I need is:

Phone (no schizz... :techsupport: )
SMS
Campatibility with Activsync - so I can access work email/calendar via Exchange. <--- MOST IMPORTANT!!
A browser.
Camera is optional.

I'm a pay as you go customer. All contracts available are still more than I would pay monthly in airtime, so I only need a handset.

I'd like to pay about 100 squid max.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to OS, brand & model?

Thankyou me lovelies

There are a few second hand Blackberries you can get on ebay for around £100,

If you don't mind second hand that is.

I was going to get the Blackberry Bold 9000 about 6 months ago, and that was about £120 second hand, but as new models have come out since then you may get them cheaper.

Blackberry push email is very good. You will need a data plan however. You can get sim only packages that are like a contract but are a lot cheaper and can last 1 month or 12. I think O2 do the best Sim only packages.

Kelvin.

Thanks Kelvin. I can get a curve cheap-as-chips from my current provider Do they support the outlook calendar as well as email, though?

It's a data connection plan that you need to go on the internet and get push email, facebook, bebo and other apps that you might fancy.

To get the best out of it you will need a Data plan. If you don't have one you can only use texts and calls. (What a basic phone does)

I'm not sure if they have outlook but my old blackberry had a calender and you can add events.

I forgot to mention camera's are OK on Blackberries but if your after a good camera then your better off looking elsewhere.

PM me if you want any more help >_<

Juju, its a shame you did not ask last week, you could have had my old Blackberry for nought! i have had them for years and they did everything i needed up to the point i got fed up with the tiny buttons. cant say about outlook as i have never used it but the features on the blackberry were pretty good and must stuff sync'd with my laptop no problem. my son has now sent it off to one of those cash for fones things , so sadly i no longer have it and it was only about four moths old  . I too have now got the nokia N8 and though i thought a touch screen would confuse an old git like me, i am really liking it, the satnav included is excellent and the 12 meg camera is out of this world, but as i dont have a business anymore, i have not tried all the office apps. downside to this one is the price, so i think it may be out of your budget.

i know you said handset only but the wife got a good deal from tesco. 1 month contract, sim only and bought a htc, handset was about £150.
i looked at blackberrys the other year and to be honest thought they were a bit over rated, went for a htc hd2.

if you're on contract and aren't in a rush i would wait till the end of the year and see what 3D handsets come out.
