Tried the search function but didnt find the answer I wanted

Spec- 998, 12g940 ported ou, megajolt, 276 cam

i have a set of twins HS2s that still need some work doing on them to be useable (throttle spindles need a rebush), however I know someone selling a hiff 44 with ITG filter and stub stack

will the Hiff44 give as good performance as the twins?Im attracted to the hiff44 as its easier to set up than twins, no faffing with balancing or wotnot

I would personally say that the hif44 will be too big and that the twins will be better. If your after fuel economy why not try a hif38?

fuel economy doesnt really bother me (its only a weekend car), I know the 44 is too bi for a bog standard 998 but wasnt sure with a modded head and beefier cam.
more interested in the power comparison between twins and hiff44

should work ok with the large ports of a 12g940... as that is primarily what the hif44 was used on...

im running a 44 on my 998 and it seems to run very well indeed! obviously there is ALOT of induction noise... but i do like that:P

given you do go for a 12g940 head i say a 44 would be fine with the right needle...

yeah, I have the 12g940 all ready to fit, I ported it out myself and removed alot of material from around the valve guides, its opened up quite nicely

I'm using a hif44 on my fast road 998. It works well, currently has a BDL needle fitted

I think i might put the twins on ebay and put the money towards a hiff44, saves faffing with balancing the carbs up and less to go wrong

That's the MG Metro needle and carburettor.
Must be a seriously tweaked 998 to require the carb from an MG Metro!

I have a hif38 on a 1275 with a Janspeed intake and lcb. Works perfectly ( AAM ). I tried the 44 but prefer the 38.

If I were you I would fit a 38 with the proper needle or fit the twins. Twins are not that tough to set up, and contrary to popular belief...you don't have to keep tinkering with them.
Better low down power as well./

BDL is normally what is used with stage one kits. It's currently at 65bhp just the sw5 cam letting it down now
