To fit 13x8 wheels what do you need to do?

Or is it a case of they just fit fine and you need to get arches to suit?

depends what size tires they have on but you will need to trim the front wing and get suitable arches.

You will need to cut the front arches so you can get full steering lock. and i would probably advise you to beef the front end up. i have got 13x8 on mine and have stiffened up with heavy duty tie bars and bottom arms. hope this helps.

You will find that there are no tyres which will legally fit an 8" wide wheel for a road going Mini. You could get a slick racing tyre, but that would only be any good for track or hill-climbing use.

Would that be 185x40x13 or 195/35x13 as they are the only sizes which would fit and give correct (more or less) gearing. You should certainly not fit a 175 width onto an 8" wheel. In fact the maximum wheel width for a 185 tyre should be 7.5"
A 185 or 195 width on a Mini would not be very good at stopping or cornering in the wet.
This was all covered in a thread a month or so ago.

dont fit 13x8's unless your going racing or its just for show - they ruin the handling knacker your wheel bearings and cause alot of bump /torque steer.

My 13x7.5's were bloody awful going to downgrade to 12 x 6's I think

They also create a lot of extra profile drag aerodynamically which knock a lot off your top and easy cruising speed and make the car use more petrol. Unsprung weight is also increased.
In fact, it's pretty much all a negative.
Widest wheels for good all round use are 6" with 165 tyres.

the dunlops are 194/45/13 same as the continentals. i believe a well known tyre company who still sell these size wheels use the 175's but i would say that was a stretch too far.

According to my wheel/tyre calculator, a 195 tyre can be fitted to an 8" wheel, but that is its maximum width.
a 175 should NEVER be fitted to an 8" wheel and it may be illegal to do so. It certainly wouldn't suit the tyre or car and would look a bit silly too.
