Hi,

Last new topic of the day!

I have quite a bit of carbon deposits on my pistons (out of engine b ut on rods).

My plan was to boil up a pan of washing powder and water and dunk the piston withr od and gudgeon pin for 20mins.

as per link clicky makes it look like magic

Is this ok? Will the washing powder react with piston metal? I kno woven cleaner is a no no! but not sure about washing powder? (well tesco tablets, was going to use half a tablet)

Other poeple have suggested using diesel? Would this be better. I have tried gunk but didnt do much..... and is quite pricey.

Any help gratefully recieved,

Cheers,

Brake cleaner and a fine brillo pad has always worked for me.

i just used a wire brush attatchment and cleaned them inside the engine rotating the engine so the piston is at the top i just used a weak wire brush like copper not a tough one like steel.
