Hi, I've been thinking of booking my Mini in for a rolling road tune up at Mini Sport as i can't get it running right. It's recently had a full service and a reconditioned carb fitted but i still can't get it right. So i'm hoping a good rolling road tuning session should tell me whats wrong with it and hopefully make it a bit better. The question is, what do you get for the £60? Is it a basic adjustment and power/torque print out, or a full diagnostics and in depth tune up?

Cheers, Chris.

Wherever you take it just make sure the "tester" knows what they are doing, and isnt some chimp who relys on a figure displayed on a screen which they will try to provide an intepretation on,and whos only "qualification" is reading the idiots guide that came with the rolling road, unfortunatley when it comes to the rolling road you get what you pay for,i prefer to use the old school tuners around the country, neil slark and peter baldwin come to mind, however neither are close to you.
Ive not heard good or bad reports from the minisport RR,however im sure we have members who have used them and can provide feedback for you.

Rob there is a legend, he firstly checks your car over, then sets to work at tuning the car, by adjusting the timing, dizzy, carb etc, diagnosing any problems on the way.

Then at the end, if you have time in the 1.5 hour slot, he gives it a power run, with print out of power and torque.

He knows the spec for which to set the car to, even without consulting any notes, he is that knowledgeable.

My car recently went to him , and even though it was running ok before, it completely transformed the car! This was my 4th time in going, and would completely recommend him

I also had the chance, whilst on work experience, to have a couple of days on the rollers there, not that im biased ofcourse

Cheers for the replies  I am very tempted to get it booked in. What are the power gains people have experienced from rolling road tune ups? and does anyone recommend any other companies in lancashire who do tune ups?
The problem i'm having is that it is very hesistant under hard acceleration and seems to have a very bad misfire. It's had new points, condenser, rotor arm, dizzy cap, ignition leads and plugs. And there is no moisture inside the distributor. We then we set the points gap correctly and timing with the stroboscope etc. We've also spent a good few hours fiddling with the carb mixture and we still can't get it to run nicely.

Thanks, Chris.
