First post, thought I'd say hello. My name's Nathan. Current cars '89 3.2 911 Carrera and Audi S4 2.7 biturbo. Oh, and the wifes 206 :erm:

Been Mini-ing for years but sold my Minimag featured 66 Cooper S-alike 18 months ago and life hasn't been the same since :gimme:

It's been 18 months too long, and despite having nice motors in the garage I've still the mini desire burning inside  so just got a Mini 1000 (1973) to get me going again

Used to do a bit of sprinting and hillclimbing so still got my old 1380 ready to slot in. Can't decide just what style to go for with the car tho. I'm a sucker for the early looking stuff so prob OEW/black or maybe tartan red/black, with 4.5x10 minilites, or maybe some tasty rose-petals?? Any suggestions anyone?

It's good to be back..!

Is that your car bungle? Nice looker. Love works type arches. Did a red one a couple of years ago like that (another one I should have never sold)..

It think it was Jan03 when my Mk1 was in Minimag.

Any more pics of old looking OEW/Black mini's appreciated!

Almond green is one of my favourites actually but couldn't ever dream of trying to replace my Mk1  This was my Minimag featured car (hope the pics work?)

Thanks guys. A bloke from New Zealand bought it. His mate stores it for him (in the UK) and he just pops over from NZ to do the odd historic rally when he feels like it!

It took me 3 years (on and off) to build from the ground up and was properly sorted. All internal brake/fuel lines, seam welded subframes, avo dampers, hi-los, r/j arms etc. It had a nice torquey 1330, 36/31 st4 head, 1.5 rockers, 266 cam, although was strangled with the little SUs (was just about to upgrade the carbs before I was made an offer I couldn't refuse). Was certainly the nicest handling and most forgiving Mini I've had/driven, and got attention wherever it went.

Don't think I'll ever go to the same lengths on another (although the Mk3 I've started on is heading in the same direction)

Really regret selling it now

Only bad points... er... err....... it should have had an 8 port head  Doesn't make me feel any better  Thanks for all the compliments anyway

I also built a tartan red one. In it's 3 incarnation actually. Good excuse to post some more pics!

Started life as a 1983 Mini Sprite 1000 (the orange special edition)

I got it in 1993 and rebuilt it into this, complete with Weber fed 1380:

Posted Image

Evolved into a sprint/hillclimber:

Posted Image

Rebuilt into another shell with lots of weight loss and colour change(ran a 14.6 quarter mile)

Posted Image

And finally (on it's 3rd shell, 10 years later, and the best of the lot) turned into this.. (another one I was sad to sell but it had to make room for the 911  )
