hi all having trouble removing steering rack, ive unbolted it from inside the car both sides and removed the bolt at the bottom of the steering colum, but cannot remove steering rack from where it connects to the colum am i missing something or does it just need a good old wack with a hammer ?

if your refering to the bolt right at the bottom of the colum then yes that has been removed but the rack wont come out of where it connects at that point!

Well life is easier if you remove the column (only two more bolts!) to give you just a little bit more space to wiggle the rack pinion free. If it's anything like the one I did on mine last year, there's very little space to move the rack, even with the subframe levered down as far as you dare!

Yeah they have shear bolts.. but if they've not been messed with in the past, they're probably still intact- if so, just go easy on them with a (1/2"iirc) socket and they will undo- good old BL!

Is the bolt out completely from the column/rack joint?

Stupid question, but did you lower or remove front subframe?
