•SSL Encryption: yes
•Outgoing Server: smtp.live.com
•Outgoing port: 25 (use port 587 if the default port is not working)
•Authentication: yes

I thought they'd stopped this years ago and you had to pay for Hotmail+ or something

Quick google seems to show it is possible, might have to set it up for mine.

I’m paying nothing for the "privilege", it’s ironic of Microsoft not to allow us to use their products (i.e. Outlook Express) to send and receive email!

The latest version of Hotmail wasn't initially compatible with Outlook as MS saw Outlook as a legacy product and were trying to get people into live mail instead. This is still the case, but there is now a patch for live mail to let it sync with Outlook. Or something like that.

Well my experience of Outlook isn't a good one.

I found it tends to fail in a firey explosion more often than it actually receives e-mails. This was a while back though but it's one of those things, once you are given an opinion of a piece of software and there is an alternative then you don't go back.

I have two email accounts, one hotmail & one none hotmail account. So I want them in the same place (i.e. outlook express) that way I don’t have to keep logging into Windows Live, as well as outlook express...I looked at Windows Live help and I can't see if I can use none hotmail email accounts through it. Maybe I can I can't see it though!

See all of your email in one place. Add email accounts by simply typing an email address and password, and following a few more steps—and then you're ready to go!

Yep, you can . Windows Live Mail is just an e-mail client like Outlook.

That's Microsoft for you .

Give Windows Live Mail (or even Mozilla Thunderbird) a shot if you ever have issue with Outlook.
