Basicly my next door naighbour has just told me she can hear me grinding and asked what I was doing. Which has really ***** me off because I wont be able to carry on and relax now it's made me loose all motivation now. I've been doing it in the garage with the door shut, somtimes open to let dust and fumes out. I ususally do it for about 3/4 hours a day, about 12pm - 4pm. Don't even do it that oftern and I've always tried to keep the noise down.

We put up with having a building site next to our house for about 4 years while they doubled the size of their house. Which was a complete nightmare from start to finish, I haven't been this angry in a long time.

OK I know they can't really do anything about it but I really thought they couldn't hear it through my garage and then through their house with tripple glazing windows. I wont be able to work properly knowing they can hear me now. And to make things worse my Dad has numbered my days I have left to use his garage.

Is she actually complaining?

Talk to her and see if she minds!

she isn't complaining but the way she came to talk to me, was like she wanted to say something to me then the grinding noise was it, so I think she minds, she has a baby too so I can understand. I guess I just gotta try and think of a way to damp the noise a bit, will have a word though, just gutted my mini is my only lifeline at the moment and it almost feels like it's gone now I can't work it without worrying. It's not a big deal really and they can't do anything it because I don't do it at silly hours but I'm the sort of person who worries about disturbing people etc. Some people wouldn't think twice and just carry on I guess lol.

I use my parents garage for my mini and the neigbours are all fine about it, i try to do a couple of hours a day after lunch to suit them. My dad is the freaking problem. He complains about everything, he sat in the garden the other day and started complaining about how annoying the noise was, I WAS USING HAND HELD GLASS PAPER, i could barely hear it myself lol.

I'd go and talk to her. Ask her what times she doesn't mind you making a little noise, what times the little one sleeps during the day etc. Hopefully with a friendly approach she'll be reasonable.

neighbours ay! had a knock on the door at 2.30 in the morning, it was my next door neighbour the cheecky git, good job i was already up playing my drums!,

my neighbours stripped there house out and redecorated it for a couple of months so had loads of hammering and drilling for bloody ages at 7 and 8 in the morning, so everynow and then they would get some ear bleeding heavy metal blasted out everynow and then, plus i do actually own a drum kit so i give them there fair share of noise back, but i think they responded with violin lessons!

She's a genuinely crazy person, she leases cars pretty cheap, she's based in Gateshead just off the A1, there's usually her Russian rocket launcher truck and the London bus parked outside the office, it's totally bizarre!
