Ive gone to assemble my four pots from minisport,
i noticed once the pads were on then they moved around willy nilly,
is there something im missing or are they meant to do that?

cheers

as far a i am aware the pad will move not drastically but slightly play until you put the disc into the slot obvisily without the disc begion there they will move!!! as you have the pressure build up in the pot which inturn pushes the pad on to the disc to cause braking on your wheels!!!

im sure someone will correct me if i am worng but thats what i have been told that the should have slight movement

cheers i meen that even while on the car they are free to move against the disk i was wondering if there is a spring or clip which stops them hitting the disc when the brakes arent on

cheers

Pads always touch the disc so theres no need to worry about them i have them on mine and I did notice this untill the brakes are bled and are working as the pistons hold the pads against the disc with little pressure but it stoops them rattling

Stating the obvious but you have got the retaining clip under the pins havent you .Asuming its the same as my metro turbo 4 pots.

They have a large split pin that holds both the pads in. Not the best engineering

You will need the retainer plates, same as Metro ones (as are the pads) so you should find 'em at any motor factors.. It's something to watch when buying pads: some include them (Ferodo), others don't.

The pads in my Mini Sport 4 pots rattled about and made a right racket, especially slow drives through town, before I figured out what was making all the noise I had the front end apart twice, and eventually figured it out it by wiggling the pads in the caliper up and down, and found the rattle.

No body else appeared to have the same problem and Mini Sport said they had never had an issue, I tried another set of pads to make sure, which made no difference.

Anyway, I have used the standard metro sprung steel anti rattle clips that fit between the pads and the split pins. My calipers are non vented and it was hard to source them at first but Mini Spares got some in, the vented caliper type were actually easy to get at the time so shouldn't be a problem.

Once these were fitted, it was so much quieter, and such a relief.

I have the slotted disks which also appear noisy/juddery under braking, but next change of pads I will try some plain disks from MRA and see if they are any better.

Any more info on this? I have the same issue, though only of one side. I have a set of metro retaining clips, but I cant see how they would fit ( i have 7.5 discs). Kerrin, would be great if you could assist.

Cheers
