they reduce side loadings!with SC you loose less power through the drivetrain so you get more of the power from the engine to the wheels, not sure how much though.

but to cut to the chase, SC gears are a close ratio set compared to the standard ( or even GT ) Helical sets...
This means 1st is actualy longer, somewhere between 1st and 2nd on std gearbox, and then 2nd and 3rd fill a smaller gap to the final 4th 1:1 ratio...
This means driving along @ 60 in 4th, you can drop down to 3rd, no hassle, and if you have the engine for it, 2nd is a strong possibility..

whats the difference between S/C drop gears and S/C gears, or is it just another name for the same thing?
I ask as S/C drop gears are £195.25 from minispares and i like thinking of ways to spend money before i earn it (makes me get up and get to work)

If diesels sounded like that then I'd buy one tomorrow :erm:Would love S/C drops... but sound like a diesel in traffic....
Strangley they s/c's sound like s/c's in traffic...
