i have 3 gauges fitted with my new dashboard, they are sumco? i think and want to wire them up.
ive tried wiring the engine temp one but there are no adapters that fit, the way it is before you attach an adapter is fine but leaks really bad, can you buy different adapters for them?

the oil presure gauge im lost, theres a long peice of tubing and thats about it, is there a place where an oil pressure pipe can go?

the other one which measures the amps i got told i need a proper electritian to do it because it needs to be wired up to the alternator i think, is it really that hard?

i hope this makes sense :L lol

thanks
Rob

I do not know if the sending unit adapter is available as I am not in the U.K. and I am not familiar with the gauge you bought or its sending unit. What MAY be possible is for you to take an old, non-working Mini temperature sending unit and have it drilled out and tapped to accept the "new" sending unit matched to your gauge. You will have to determine if that is possible based on the size and thread of your aftermarket gauge's sending unit.

The oil pressure gauge should have come with some fittings if it came with tubing. Obviously one fitting will connect the tubing to the back of the gauge. You will need to purchase a "T" fitting and a few other bits to connect this to the engine. The "stock" oil pressure switch on the original A-series engine is near the distributor on the engine block. The old switch sender is removed, a "T" fitting is threaded into the block, then the old switch and new gauge fitting are threaded into the "T". Though the tap in the block is probably 1/8 BSPP, I have always used 1/8 NPT fittings with a little PTFE tape and never had problems. The "T" fittings are available from Mini specialists if you want to purchase them there. However, I have always used normal plumbing fittings that should be available at the DIY home center. However, purchased there, you may need to buy a "T" with all female threads AND a short male pipe nipple. Its a little more PTFE tape, but inexpensive and functional. If the tubing that came with the gauge is plastic/nylon, be careful to route it away from heat, minimize the number of places it touches items on the engine/car that might vibrate, and be aware it is quite easy to damage this tubing.

I do not install ammeters on cars with alternators. Most common ammeters supplied with kits operate in the range of +/- 30 Amps. That is typically less than the output of a modern alternator and therefore a bit unsafe. Others may tell you there is no problem installing them. The decision is yours and the others will have to tell you how to connect them.
