Model: GTM Coupe
Year: 1275GT Engine
Description of problem:
I need to replace the hose from my (Verto) clutch slave to the clutch damper.
I would like to get a stainless braided one but im having trouble sourcing one.

I suppose the first question is does anyone know where I could get one and the 2nd question is does anyone know the thread size going into the cluctch slave. I'm thinking its 1/2" but unsure if thats right or if its unc/unf.

I found a guy locally who will make one but its £20 and just his standard stock, i feel like i could get Goodridge or HEL for that sort of money if i knew what fittings i needed

The hose looks like exactly what I want but not so much the fittings. I dont know if a banjo fitment would work and the other end looks a bit big. Photo could be deceiving though.

Thanks for looking anyway  Much appreciated

I am running the same pipe on a verto system but mine is a longer version that goes straight from the clutch master to the slave.

Lets not get confused here. This is off a Metro, that used the hydraulic damper, the mini lines won't fit. I just can't remember what thread they ran.....

I think mine gets complicated because I have the clutch damper too (i beleive these were mostly on metros). Also because the GTM is mid-engined ive got a bit of length between the master and slave. That distance is covered by rigid pipe at the moment so the damper is useful to have as it gives a solid point in the back of the car to secure the pipe, if it wasnt for that I would just lose the damper.

The more i look at the rear brake pipes the more they look the same... apart from the length of the threaded parts but i guess its ok to only use half the thread if use lock nuts?

I wonder if the thread is the same

Sorry I should've been more clear. I wasn't sure if it was a metro unique part but i guess the damper means it must be

Metro clutches use M12x1. The master is also a smaller bore, for what it's worth.

You could use a Mini slave , or have a look if there's anything on offer for the MGF.

I've got a die, so if you're really stuck I might be persuaded to knock up a bush to change it to 3/8unf (mini size).

You raise a very good point.... i ordered a new seal kit for the slave from minispares because I assumed it was mini part. So i dont suppose it will fit because its more than likely going to be Metro.

The pics of MG metro clutch hose look encouraging but not for £30. Suddenly the existing hose isn't looking in such bad condition

I think it'll fit - as far as I'm aware the only difference with the slaves is the thread size. I'd be tempted to replace the cylinder if you're buying a fancy hose - Mini cylinders (& hoses) are likely to be cheaper and easier to find in the future.

Thanks for all the info everyone. I think i will stick with the existing pipes and slave for now (assuming i can get the slave in a serviceable condition).
A change to mini slave will be on the list for future though!
