Currently rebuilding a 1963 super de-luxe which came to me minus many parts. Have a few quandries regarding interior trim. in particular the centre binnacle. I am told by different folk that it would have been fitted with a three clock binnacle, yet others say its the single unit. I am keen to put this little car back on the road exactly as it should be. Its an Austin super-deluxe not a morris which had a diffrent trim spec.

It's a 3 clock binnacle. The car is effectively a 997 Cooper with 850 mechanicals. In this day and age it might seem a silly car to make, but a Cooper in the 60s was quite a bit more to insure.

The speedo will be a 0 - 90 mph one.
It should also have the chrome door surround strips and the bumper over-riders with bars.

I used to have an 1963 850 super delux. I'm pretty sure that had a 3 dial binnacle.....although that was a few years a go lol

Yes, all Super deLuxe models had 3-dial 'Cooper-type' binnacles with oil pressure and water temp as well as 0-90 mph speedo.

Well I am grateful for the response as I was really unsure... I can confirm the chrome trim is still in place around door bins and rear bins. It also has diamond chequer aluminium sections on the inner sills and at the very end of the seat support cross member. I assume these are original as the carpet would have stopped at the press studs adjacent.

the binnacle is black which i have... but alas it is still wrong... according to other info it should be a white centre pod with brackets which protrude from both sides then a binnacle with three clocks is placed over and screwed in from the front
