Hi All,
I need to remove the supercharger pulley in order to align the belt with the crank pulley (actually move it nearer the supercharger as there is about a 5mm gap at present)

Any ideas to how I remove the pulley and how it can be adjusted...?
Thx
Matt

You'll need a pulley puller- got mine off eBay for a few quid. According to Jonspeed the stock charger pulleys are made from steel and you need to heat them up in the oven to let it expand and then push it on the shaft before it cools. Not tried it myself. I certainly wouldn't have though to align the belt my adjusting the pulley. Surely the manifold design means the pulleys and belt should line up. Have you put a straight edge across the 2 pulleys in situ?

The actual problem is that when I run the engine the supercharger belt rides over to the left edge of the pulley and starts scrubbing / self destructing the rubber belt?
I will try and get a straight level to gauge if the supercharger pulley and crank pulley are aligned but with the radiator in place, it's rather tight.

I wonder if it's the tensioner pushing the belt out of alignment?
I'll try and upload a picture over the weekend.
Many thanks for your help.

i had this same problem,

i sorted it by fitting a VMAX scart tensioner and belt kit!

and surely there should be some gap between pulley and charger unit otherwise it will just rub

Thx Blister,
I'll try a new tensioner and belt first as the tensioner may be knackered.
Cheers

Hi Guys,
Fitted new tensioner and bracket from Vmax, problem now fixed. If there is any play in your tensioner bearing or the bracket is not dead true, it seems to misguide the belt to the edge of the supercharger pulley and start to shred it.

Thx
Matt
