I personally prefer standard rubber steadies on a road car. I tried nylon bushes on the top staady once and it was unbelievably noisy. Not sure if the polly bushes would be quieter, but for a standard engine the standard rubbers are best IMO.

If you have a heavily uprated motor and noise and vibration arn't concerns then it would be best to uprate. My hillclimber for example is completly solid mounted, no resiliance at all. Great for gear changes, but bloody noisy.

defo use the rubbers bushes!!!
i put poly one on the top steady and later that day drove to northampton and it was the worse trip i've ever done.
you could feel every vibration of the engine and the noise was unbelievable?? I would of turned the stereo up but the face kept popping off due to the shakin. :o :o

you may need to replace more often but rubber has a nicer feel!!! :saywhat: :saywhat: :gasp:

For the engine mounts use standard rubber - it'll make things a little quieter! if you want to use poly then replace your subframe mounts - will firm up the handling a little!

Yup thought so too, what about the engine steady, does it really keep the engine from rocking back and forth, and if it does work which one do i need for me MPI??
Thanx!!

the Ulitmate engine steady is very good and does reduce the engine movement a lot! there are different ones for different engines so just tell someone like minisport or minispares or even your local mini specialist what engine you have and they will supply you with the correct one! :cheese:

right i know half the problem with to steady bar bushes wearing its down to the front subframe moving on the rubbers, so i would recomend doing a solid nylon or steal to subframe mounting kit and replace the engien steady rubbers with gen sportspack bushes (they are one piece on these late cars)

Seriously people, rubber ones make that much noise difference!? Blimey. Im using Poly's all round, although I have S/C drop gears with no soundproofing - yes this is my every day car :w00t:
