Not sure if anyone on here is going to be able to help but i do remember that there are some VW nuts on here. Just got a 2000 Polo (1.4 TDI) and having problems selecting gears, going up the box can get 1,2,3,5 but coming down it's hard to get anything and most of the time i've got to watch the speed and "touch" the gear below to be able to choose the gear i want, but still can't get 4th. If the car is stationary i can get the gears but still a slight block from time to time on 4th....
I know the polo's had a problem with the pedal box, not sure if this model did or not...
Any ideas??

I have read that there it could be the clutch cable over stretching or do you think it's complete new clutch time??

If it's got a clutch cable (not all of them have) it's probably worth replacing that first and see if it fixes it.
edit: If the clutch pedal is too low it could be the pedal box at fault

The pedal seems on par (well near enough) to the brake pedal so doubt it's that but i'll check at the weekend, i believe it has a cable i'll also check.
