Went to reinstall my headlamp buckets and realized i have nothing to attach them with. The body guy drilled the old ones out so I have nothing to go by. I was wondering if anyone knew the correct size rivet to use here? I dont want to just guess and then have to try and remove the wrong type and risk damaging my new paint.
Thanks!

Not being in front of my car, I cant remember how the seals are. As long as the seal has holes for the attaching hardware, you can use anything. Maybe I'll head to hardware store and find some nice SS nuts and bolts.

Well, i am now finally trying to install the buckets. The seals dont have any holes but there are provisions for where they go. Wondering what others have used. If I head to the hardware store, want to know exactly what I am looking for. Assume they would have to to be pretty flat screws.

I installed rivet nuts in the body and used M5 stainless button head screws

Rivnuts do sound awesome, the uses are endless. You can get a rivnut gun from car builder solutions for about £30.
Last time I put headlight bowls in I used large self tappers to do it so at least they're removable from the front.

I looked on MiniMania (Im in the US and MS didnt show anyhting) and it appears they use sheet metal screw and those square screw clips on the body. It would be nice to have them removable.
Funny thing, I just remembered I have a spare fender. Brand new heritage one. I am going to bring that, the bucket and the seal to some stores and see what I can find.
Rivnuts do sound cool. For this they would work but I have had some bad luck with other uses. Actually on the SPi, they use them in the engine bay on the off side. A gas evap valve thing is bolted with them...and they always let loose and just spin.

So, I went down to my local hardware store and found some perfect rivets for the job. They looked to be exactly the same size as what was used originally. As an added bonus, I installed some washers to the ends to help spread the load around a little more. Although not originally done like that, I thought it a good idea to help insure the plastic bucket sits has flat as it can.
The was the last major (little) detail to work out. Monte is almost ready for it's madden voyage. I CANT WAIT!!
