Hi there! I've got a 1989 shell with a 998 from a 1984, The engine has been stage one tuned, recently had a refurbed carb put on it HS4 (with red jet), K&N filter, and a sportex twin box centre exit on it. My main problem is i've got very little torque coming from the engine. Everytime I try to pull away i have to slip the clutch to get it to not stall! it seems ok once its moving but has very little power on the bottom end! I've checked the timing and its all spot on, just don't know if the 'Stage 1' add ons are causing the problems
Can anyone help?? I'm not sure if i've got the correct needle for the carb, its got a AAC in there at the moment (came with the carb) and a red spring.
Any help/ideas would be very much appreciated!
Cheers
Rich

Have you actually had the car tuned on a rolling road? Just sticking the needle in and hoping it runs fine is a false hope.

No not yet, It's having some front end work done on it at the moment so it can't go anywhere, and i'm not sure of any good classic tuners with rolling road around here. I just wanted to see if there was anything blatently wrong with the set up as is. Does anyone know of any places down south (Sussex) for rolling road set ups?

Make sure the vacuum advance in the dizzy is connected - and working as it should. You really shouldn't need to spend a fortune on a Rolling Road set-up for such a simple modification.
