I used to go, I paid £10 or something for the first taster session then I joined, can't remember how much it was but I recently tried to ask them how much it was for me to re-join and they just wanted me to come in for them to show me around. It's because the price would scare most off so they get you in for pressure sales lol, just tell them at the start 'if I want to join, I'm not going to join today and if you ring me afterwards, I will not join as I don't like pressure sales' it will be around £50-70 a month depending on the area, probably more now.
They are nice gyms though, just hassle in the car park because the one near me used to have a code to get out, you used to have to remember the code each day to get out, used to forget all the time and have to go running back. If you're going to just use the gym and nothing else ie, swimming pool, sauna etc it's not really worth it as it's no better than any other gym in terms of equipment.

we had a family membership about 4 years ago, me, the wife and our lad and that was about £110 per month.
the one we used to go to was bloody awful, stupid things like the gym being far too cold in the winter and hot in the summer. when i asked them about it they told me the heating/air con was controlled by someone 20 miles away!!
we had a nightmare cancelling our membership and i would never go back to them, customer service is awful to say the least.

to be honest mate, the facilities are second to none, service has to be good because of the people who use them. The gym near my house is on Burton Waters, a private marina outside Lincoln, and a couple of famous celebs inc prem league footballers have houses and boats there.
But a lot of rich people use them, and yep, the gates are coded so bloody annoying, and price, ouch, I looked into it a bit back as a student and the cost was about £50 for peak (only times I could get there) absolute rip off!!!
Avoid,
Try DW( used to be JJB gyms)
