Hello all,
I am experiencing a sharp knock/crash sound when going over small bumps and holes in the road. It seems to be coming from the back right side. I jacked my mini up and checked that the wheel did not have any play in it side to side and up/down. I also pushed up and down on the back of my mini and i did hear a little bit of what I am hearing from inside the car. The problem is I have stripped the interior of the car, no back seats, etc. so every noise is magnified now!
I was thinking about trying the bushes on top of the rear dampers/absorbers first.
Could the rear knuckles cause this noise? are there any areas I should look at besides the absorbers?
I did a visual and also checked nothing was loose anywhere. I also greased up the rear suspension nipples.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Dave

are the radius arm bushes shot?? do you have standard suspension, neg camber could be knocking the wheel against the shock??
unlikely bu loose wheel nuts/.. my sister drove her car for a good 100 mile with "a funny knocking noise", turned out to be 3 loose wheel nuts and a snapped stud!!
