Or, you could try this - have had no experience with it. Do not know if it works
check your unit behind the dash, this only works with alarm ECUs numbered: YWC104040

If it is the two button type you send them the immobiliser ecu (not the engine ecu) and they can provide a new programmed fob very quickly. I am not sure how it works for the earlier single button type but I am sure they can explain.
I have used them to refurbish a fob so I can recommend them.

Sorry for the bounce but need some real help! (is there any other kind??)
My car wont start/prime the fuel pump. I have replaced the relay pack with a brand new one but nothing. I have had the car 3 years and had no key fobs but behind the dash is some black box with an ariel type connector which I presume is related to the alarm system?
Would the car ever have started without the fob?! The car is a 1994 SPi Cooper is there an easy way to bypass or test?
Thanks

What is the ECU part number MNE101070 or MNE101170? The latter requires the ECU, alarm and fobs to be matched. The alarm sends a code to the ECU to ECU and if it is the correct one, the engine starts and runs. If no code is sent from the alarm or if the code does not match the ECU code, the engine will not start.
The MNE101070 is not coded. It can be used with no alarm or if it has an alarm, the only thing disabled is the starter. You should be able to bump start the car.

I'm having some issues with my immobilizer too. its acting like its not getting power (no LED light). My ECU is MNE 101150... does that mean i could bumb start? or not?

That is
1010XX = no immobiliser originally fitted
1011XX = immobiliser originally fitted
XX = 70 that is Cooper spec as per xrocketengineer's post
XX = 50 standard SPi spec

guys thanks for the help. Had forgotten about this post. The problem, even after fitting a new relay pack (it needed one) was actually a burnt pin inside the connector to the relay pack. Autospark rewired it and car started straight away. Essentially the relay pack was not getting the trigger to prime the system
