Hi All,
I have come into possession of a pewter mug which is enscribed as follows
BMC Press Day
Chobham, July. 1961
Austin Seven Cooper and
Morris Mini Cooper
The inscription on the base states that it was made by "Hiners" of Sheffield.
There are a couple of minor (and I mean really minor) dents but it seems in pretty good condition for being 50 years old!
Any clue as to what it might be worth?
Cheers
Ian
Hi Ian, I logged in here to ask the same question. I have one of them too, mine was given to my father by Ron Flockhart who attended the launch. I think as not only part of the Cooper team but also as a column writer for a weekly car magazine. I spoke to John Cooper about the tankards around 1993 to try to find out how many had been produced but sadly he wasnt sure and was unable to get back to me about it. Maybe Roy Salvadori might be able to shed some light into how many were handed out, or someone with access to Autosport, Autocar or Motor magazine archives from that time.
Look forward to finding out anything that other members know about the tankards.
Regards, John
