Hello,

I have a slight issue with a Paul Smith MPI. When its been driven for a bit, and seems to always happen when the car has got nice and warm, when i come to fill up with Petrol the nozel seems to click off, although there is no fuel in there.

Im thinking that this is something to do with the pressure that is building up in the tank. I will check that all the pipes are connected properly later, but I thought I would just see what everyone thought. Maybe im missing something obvious!!!

Cheers.

I tend to rest the nozzle against the metal and not put it all the way into the tank.

A bit of an art to slowing down and visually checking the fuel level.

There can't be pressure in the tank with the cap off. How far are you pushing the nozzle in and how far are you expecting to fill the tank up? You shouldn't fill it right into the neck, you should just be able to see the fuel level at the tank edge. Although you do say there is none in there. There is a restrictor to prevent you putting a 4 star nozzle in the filler, if you are hitting that with the pump nozzle you might be triggering the cutoff sensor.

sometimes you cant get more than 2 quid in....the rest of my Mini's, I sort of withdraw as the tank is filling up so i cant get it fuller, while stopping before the neck, but this one seems to think its full. not always though, usually after a long drive....!!!

Very odd....thnanks for the help though
