I am converting my 1990 cooper using a metro subframe and running gear and am trying to find out the drive shart lengths i need to make the shafts i know they will be unequel both sides

how would i set them up to find out

I have cut the shafts allowing extra to be cut off when i find out the length i need to make them i have sleeves made and am just waiting to find this info out.

hi mate. i measured from the inside of the pot joint to the outer face of the outer cv joint, then from the outside of the pot joint to the outside of the outer cv joint, added them together and then divided by two to get the length to the middle of the pot joint, and then added the length of the splines that go in to the outer cv. i hope this helps. i been doing mine for just over a year now and nearly finished. i have a 1.5 vtec aswell

I have not got my brakes on yet only engine in position but i have got adjustable mounts

I think i know what you mean now so you end up with i/2 the distance in each pot with wheels pointing forward

you need to do it on your car as every one varies. and yes it comes out with inner cv joints half way in with wheels straight ahead

Well is this dangerouse i would of thought the only way to get them out would be to remove the front hub and then dismantle
