Right
Managed to find a weber 45 with all the bits!!
Its got a K&N filter with it but was wondering what the difference is with having a filter or using the trumpet things? Also its got two linkages? Why will it have two?
Thanks gang

By the trumpet things do you mean ram pipes? If so then expect to rebuild your engine every 2500 miles.

Use them both, if the filter is deep enough, fit the ram pipes on the in side of the filter. Webber K&N filters come in varying lengths so you can successfully install ram pipes on the inside without restricting the air.

It comes with two different size filters.
Cant you get sock like filters to put over ram pipes, like the itg ones (i think thats what they are??)
I really dont fancy rebuilding the engine every 2.5k miles!!

You using a webber 45, which should be on a long manifold, therefore a webber box, and ram pipes, and a filter, not sure on dimensions, but I hope that all fits in the webber box!

Yes you can get those ITG sock things, i think pipercross make them too. that is probably what ill buy using on my weber, since using ram pipes inside a k&n filter must be quite restrictive?, plus it uses less room!

To be honest, I don't think you'll really need ram pipes on a 45, I certainly didn't!

You're prolly right JB. Mine came with some ram pipes, but I am gonna experiment with them and some socks that we have at work.To be honest, I don't think you'll really need ram pipes on a 45, I certainly didn't!
BUT:
When I took the carb into a Weber specialist he said that he had seen losses of up to 10BHP on single 45 DCOEs using filter socks and ram pipes and that 'in his opinion' a big K and N or similar should flow better. He did say though that if racing, he would run without filters :saywhat:

Yea, but when racing you'll rebuild at least once a season!
