hi i am planning to do a full rebuild of my mini clubman and cant decide between two engines, i either want to get a VTEC or the following:

a 1380cc fully built concept 37 engine from:
http://www.minispeed...oncept37-engine

fitted with a supercharger kit from:
http://www.minispeed...er-supercharger

and a performance exhaust system

can anyone tell me what specs i would expect from these and the specs of a vtec so that i can compare which would be better for me, thanks

Thats a veyy expensive 1380 engine, Considering you still have to pay for the (extras). I built a very similar spec engine for £2500. But, and heres the thing,
BHP!!!! the 1380 might deliver 100bhp or maybe slightly more. If you go for the super charger then 150-170bhp. but how much will that lot cost?? Now a standard V-Tech delivers 170bhp. And can be persuaded to 200+. So way up the costs. I looked into the V-Teh a couple of years back and it would have cost roughly £3500 for the full conversion. 170 totally reliable horses. But guess what I did.............Yup the 1380cc!! But then im bloody crazy.

My turbo 1380 is going to cost less than that 1380 and I should be around 180 horses without too much boost pressure or trouble.

Allspeed engineering do the subframe for the vtec conversion. Also head over to 16v forum for loads of builds. I cant post links as I'm on my phone

For subframes you're going to want to use Allspeed (unless you can make your own) you're also going to want to put in a fair few hours of research if you're even considering it.
Get onto the 16v mini forum.

edit: damn me for taking 5 minutes to reply.

Myself and MRA Minis.
I dropped the block off the other day to get the pistons ordered so I can get it rebored.
Martin at MRA Minis is doing the engineering and what not and buying in the parts for me while I'm sourcing further parts (things you can't buy new) and will be building it over the coming months.

Can you not google the specs of a Vtec engine or a 1380? There is not just one "Vtec" engine you need to find out the options which fit and go from there.
