ok just about to finish my engine.

i have a verto and non verto complete set up.

unsure which one to choose.

i know u adjust the pre verto, but

the verto seems a better design.

what types are people using with their tunned engines thanks steve

I ALWAYS used the PRE-verto - with an orange diaphragm.

Correct!

Then you can fit an oil cooler without having to spacer the grille forward so that the cooler can clear the starter solenoid on the pre-engaged type.

I'm a fan of the verto, but its not possible to get it a light as the pre verto style,

I'd say for revy race type engines go preverto, for proper torque monsters like 200hp+ turbo engines go verto and customise it with two springs ,

Times are changing, and some are going to get lost in the dust holding on to their pre verto flywheels and inertia starter motors :)

RTS Verto clutch and high torque starters are where its at! :P

which one is lighter standard, as the less weight the better really. can;t afford to buy a light weight one yet.

my verto on is on an engine don;t really want to take it of just to get a rough weight.

The later 'end brush' inertia starter is the lightest.

If you're going for lightness then pre-verto is surely the way to go, you can get the flywheels much lighter than a verto. I don't know how much the whole setup weighs but 1kg off the flywheel makes a lot more difference than 1kg off the car.

can;t afford a new atm, so thats what i was wondering is a verto flywheel and clutch compared to a pre verto flywheel backplate and clutch is heavier or lighter.

the lighter one will surely allow my engine to rev better.

the std verto is a bit of a boat anchor, I dont know the figures but I'd say its a fair bit heavyer than a pre verto.

Its just occured, if your car is an SPI or an MPI then your stuck with the verto as it runs the injection.
