I'm very much a novice, I'm only on my 3rd project and this is by far the biggest one I've taken on.

However I was chatting to a friend who had some fibreglass doors for sale and I asked if they would be suitable for my mini, his advice was that for a normal road car they are not ideal, difficult to fit well and only really suitable for racing/sprinting/hill climbs etc.

So if you're doing a road car, based on his advice I would stick to normal doors.

Looking at the amount of Dynamat and the size sub box you've built for you Mini I'm surprised you're bothering with light weight doors.

I looked at a lot of the The Arc Angles stuff at Castle Combe last year and it all seemed like pretty solid top notch stuff.

I'm not sure about TDK but I know they're a more race oriented company so might not be what you're looking for as far as parts for a road car go.

the reason for wanting to go the route of grp doors is my metal ones are messed up, im gonna have to spend 300 plus on some new door shells, its cheaper to get the grp doors,
im not 100% on the stereo for the car right now
and in the long run i want to stick a 2.2L ecotec under the bonnet

Pop an ad on here in the wanted section. There are loads of good doors just sitting in peoples sheds and garrages. Someone will have a decent pair for you and at a fraction of the cost of those GRP ones. :P

Can a mini with GRP doors pass an MOT?

I'm sure when I looked briefly into getting the GRP ones I mentioned above this was another thing that cropped up. I don't ever remembering getting a definitive answer but do remember reading a discussion somewhere about it.

i know its a bit of an old thread but the op didnt really get the answer he was after ,

i have the arc angels heavy type fibre doors fitted to mine and it was an everyday road car, 80mph and they still didn't flex because the heavy version have re-inforced/stronger loops .
As for windows i also have ACW windows and they are spot on although scratch easily.

Door takes a bit of fiddling to fit but take your time and itl be fine,
I get all my other stuff from TDK but haven't chosen him for the doors as ARC's seem better.

Ben
