Fitted one to my MG Metro, easily out performed the HIF44. Then later on used it on my 1380, excellent carb despite what's about to follow from all those that have never used one.

I'm with DILLIGAF on this, go for the 28/36 I have one on my 998 and it is better than the SU/HIF configurations I have tried.

Used to work very well on my old Cortina GT, so why not on a Mini, so long as the manifold is a decent design.

Does anyone have the recommended jets/chokes for the DCD on a 1275?

I have one sat in the garage, if its anywhere close I might give it a go.

Where can you get a good manifold for a 28/36 DCD which allows a proper air cleaner to sit atop the carb. Do you need a 'power-bulge' in the bonnet - that would look good and work well.

Think your looking at ebay for the manifold. Pancake filter will fit under the bonnet but for something larger you will probably need a bulge or to raise the bonnet. I've had a DMTL weber on mine before with the large oval type k&n filters and it was just touching. DCD looks slightly taller than the DMTL tho

Hi, newbie from Cape Town South Africa, I've got a 36 DCD downdraft setup on my clubman, it just clears the bonnet. Had a 32/36 before, but was after a bit more torque and response. I love it, great response, torque and sound, bit thirsty but not too bothered.

We have someone in cape town that casts new aluminum manifolds so went for it. If you can get a good manifold I say why not try it out for yourself.

cheers

How does the throttle linkage fit together, Is it a DIY job and is that an additional spring on yours Bluecray?
My primary choke doesn't close properly after opened, seems like its missing a return spring.

Just a quick note, Bluecray's picture has the carb on the wrong way around. Having the float chamber behind the the carb, can cause fuel starvation problems.
The float chamber needs to be at the front.

Well it seems to run quite happily like that, and if was turned around the throttle cable would be difficult to configure, it would need to be a lot longer and have to come ALL the way round to the other side. As it is, there's a more direct throttle connection.

I'm leaving it as it is.

Well i have it mounted a different way to what the other pictures show with a manifold that has the carb 90 degrees to the engine, Vizard reckons having it mounted this way give optimal fuel economy and even fuel distribution. This was on my 998 with 12G295 head. It just cleared the bonnet.

However on my rebuild, 998 with 12G940 head a quick test show it now sits higher...

So i am looking to chop the filter down so it is thin enough to clear.
