hi, right i have no piccy at da mo but could get one, what is the hose that connects to the float side of a hs4, and if this helps the car dies when i take it out, it is very loose and no fitted on with anything so could explain my rough idle? the other end is connected to cylender on the n/s rear of the engine block

its a breather, if you want to remove it you have to block it off on the carb.

oh, this sounds dumb, but what is the excact purpose of a breather?

what im trying to say, how will removeing it affect my engine?

it sucks the fumes from the crank case and gearbox housing back through the engine so that it somes out of the exhaust, it ever so slightly decraeses performance but stops the fumes going into the car.

When you disconnect it then it allows the carb to draw in more air than when its is connected so this leans the mixture out too much and hence the car stalls !

If you want to disconnect it then plug the whole in the carb and plumb the breather to a catch tank !
