welll, after research with my AS electronics project, i found out, ive been working on it for 2 months to change the idea to a digital tacho. Using an array of chips, resistors and comparitors i am going to try and attempt to make a digital tacho..
It will hopfull be a line of 10 or so LED's and it will go up and down with the revs, not really useful, just pretty to look at, and yet another thing to add to the dash. Also thought of the idea of a gear indicator(like on my motaybike!) but only having 4 gears, ide see that as pointless lol....
Thoughts/ideas/suggestions welcome

I had a MK11 supra and that had a full digi dash with a digitial tach and the lights went green orange and red looked really cool and retro i'll see if i can dig out some pics but theres no reason why you can't have the led's light up as they pass through different rev bands.
Good luck
P.S just found pic how retro is this bringing back sweet memories now. I want it back

THATS EXACTLY IT!!! Thats how i want it to be, altho i only think it will be 10 LED's, or maybe 20 if i can fit in the work, as its for electronics coursework and poject ideas were dont in novemember and most are making things, just mines liek this but a sound level sensor, sos not hard to change.
If there is enough demand for them, ill knock one or two up for people, just fitting them, its either cut your dash or make some sort of custom pod....

I think another member of the forum is/was doing this. I cant remember who though. I think they were thinking of selling them on the forum as well.

lol typical....I think another member of the forum is/was doing this. I cant remember who though. I think they were thinking of selling them on the forum as well.
yeh ive got some wiring diagrams on college's network but not at home...
ill upload soon.....i found a site when trawling through pics and info and its got diagrams i can use, but some of it will have to be altered and i need to add another LM3194 in so make it 20 LED's. Just need a way to fix them to the dash or drill them in
Any info/ideas on mounting would help,

Jam2005 was going to build kits and sell them but nothing ever materialised!

You use to be able to get a kit from Maplin which did it... but on a similar theme I'm looking at building a "heads up" unit which project the output onto the windscreen... more on that later when I've finished playing with the soldering iron.... just gotta remeber to do everything backwards :nugget:

lol backwards sounds sweet guessworks....
have you ever used a breadboard? saves u soldering and unsoldering and soldering, when you have your final design, solder up on a copper base board.

havn't used a bread board in years... mind you the last time I did any form of electonic stuff was about 4 years ago, and about 10 before that !
But if you think about it, you need the numbers to come up backwards and inverted so that when it's reflected in the screen it's the right way round..

Have you thought about what your going to use to project the image, and what will reflect it?
