Sat in my other garage for nearly 2 years but at last its started... At first it looked good but its going to need floor panels, inner arches and boot floor/rear seat repair. Still I have told myself this one is a marathon not a sprint. I have been buying parts for it for ages and I will put her back on the road in original condition. Started by knocking up a spit which works really well. Hoping to have it finished inside 12 months.

Great looking start. I've found the spit jig very useful.

Been rebuilding mini's for 20 plus years. this is my first MK1 and now I know why. I just spent £800 quid at Mini Machine on panels. Waiting for them to arrive next week. Then I can start cutting. As for the spit! at least i wont set myself alight welding underneath anymore.

Had a few days off now back to thie mini... Oh! dear it seems way worse than i first anticipated. I genuinely believed that a front floor repair and a small patch on the nearside floor was all I was up for.
I have spent in excess of £900 for panels from Mini Machine thus far.

1. full floor drivers side with added sill
2. floor to first flute passenger side with added sill
3. two front wings. Heritage
4. front panel, with added valance for non cooled brakes
5. inner and outer 'A' panels.
6. Drivers door step extension
7. boot floor repair panels O/S N/S
and all the other associated stiffeners and closures

The car has faired reasonably well for 48 years, the problem is the bodgers who, over the years have crippled the car to keep it roadworthy (there is something really wrong with that last statement)....

Trying to release the floor has been challenging as it was over silled twice and had patches to the heelboard and the companion bin and the floor.
Managed to cut off the bad and save the bin... Its so nice to weld something back in

Yes rare now too.

Lots of them were rung into crashed coopers in the 70's/80's as the trim levels were simular.

Managed to do a little more today, but this is slow going. Cut out the rot to the right hand side of the rear seat base and welded in repair. The rear inner arch has proven to be a swine to remove as there are so many spot welds in areas I didnt think any spot welder would ever reach. Spent a few hours drilling, grinding and sawing the right hand arch out.

I agree they are rare and hard to find in good nick. as for the trim! mine came without any trim whatsoever. when I finally rebuild the shell I have the engine to rebuild, and the interior to locate and install
